Permit required for NEW OR RELOCATION OF ONE OR TWO FAMILY DWELLINGS

Issued permit covers all trades for the new dwelling.

Permit Fee for Dwelling Permit

Homes to 1499 sq. ft.  ——— $ 500    

1500 to 1999 sq. ft.  —————$ 525

2000 sq. ft. to 3000 sq. ft.  —- $ 550    

over 3000 sq. ft. —— $ 550 plus 20 cents a sq. ft  for footage over 3000.

Duplex  —- add $ 25

Permit Fee for Manufactured Home Construction

Homes to 1499 sq. ft.  ——— $ 500    

1500 to 1999 sq. ft.  —————$ 525

2000 sq. ft. to 3000 sq. ft.  —- $ 550    

over 3000 sq. ft. —— $ 550 plus 20 cents a sq. ft  for footage over 3000.

Duplex  —- add $ 25

After you have completed the electronic form you will need to do the following:

1.  Send a check made out to Tom Smith Inspections LLC for the permit fee.

2.  Ask your HVAV installer to provide the “Res Check Form” to me.  They will know about this requirement and provide it as part of your installation. 

      The company or you can send to me in paper form or as an email with attached PDF file. 

3.  Send one copy of your building plan. It can be sent in paper form, or a computer version sent to me by email attached or PDF file. 

4. My files are all  identified by street address so be sure to include that on any correspondence .

Permit Fee for Accessory Buildings

(Must be under 960 sq. ft.)

Under 150 sq. ft.——$ 25

151 to 600 sq. ft. ——$ 55

601 to 750 sq. ft. ——$ 95

750 sq. ft.  or larger  ——-$ 115

Permit Fee for Roof or Siding Replacement 

$ 10 if under 25% is replaced

$ 15 if  25% to 50% replaced

$ 20 if 50% to 75% is replaced

$25 if more than 75% is replaced

PERMIT FEES for  items where you use short form application

Additions : Fee $50 plus  20 cent a square foot over 600.

Decks above 2 feet of grade :   Fee $20 plus 20 cents a sq. ft 

Structural remodeling:   Fee —$ 50

Outdoor wood burners  —  $ 100

Razing Permit — $ 55

Pools   —— $ 50

Fence permit — 20 cents per foot fence

Solar Panel installation —$ 50

Electrical Upgrade inspection  — $30 

Plumbing system expansions — $ 10 per fixture

HVAC system expansion —— $ 25

Commercial Projects and Signs

Sign permit:   Fee $75  per sign.    (Applicant must provide drawings and a site placement  plan with application.)

New Commercial  projects:  Fee $ 850           Commercial remodeling:   Fee $250            Multifamily Apartments: Fee $850

Conditional Use, Variance Requests or Rezoning requests  ——  Fee $150 per request. 

Requests are reviewed by the building inspector but action on the request is made by a City committee that only meets as needed. 

Due to scheduling and statute requirements final committee action can take 90 days.
